Camping
Boutique camping and caravan sites in the grounds at the rear of the Fryerstown School — ideal for families and small groups exploring Fryerstown, the Mount Alexander gold diggings and the Goldfields Track.
The sites
The grounds comprise ten sites suitable for tents, caravans or camper vehicles. Facilities include modern shower, toilet and hand-washing laundry facilities, an outdoor sink, potable water, picnic tables and a fire ring. The sites are not powered, however campers have access to power.
Camping is short-term only and not suitable for stays of longer than 14 days. The sites are also suitable for onsite accommodation by groups who have hired the school facilities. Many great memories are created around the crackling fire!
The school’s proximity to the Goldfields Track, a walking and mountain-bike trail connecting Ballarat and Bendigo, makes it an ideal overnight stop and a base for exploring the flora, fauna and features of the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park. Guides and talks on the local flora and fauna and the rich history of the area may be arranged on request (additional charges apply).
